  • Know your tax position well before HMRC sends the reminder

Sound familiar?

Still handling your own books between contracts?

Contractors running through a limited company deal with more financial administration than most sole traders expect. Corporation tax, payroll, VAT returns, dividends, a self assessment — each one straightforward individually, collectively a real drain on time you would rather spend elsewhere. Most people manage for a while, then realise the cost of getting it wrong quietly outweighs the cost of getting proper help.

  • Hours spent on bookkeeping and tax admin that should be billable time
  • No clear picture of the tax bill until it is already nearly due
  • Salary and dividend split never quite reviewed — probably not as efficient as it could be

What sorted looks like

Bookkeeping current every month, so your numbers are always accurate. Your tax position visible throughout the year, not just when the deadline is close. Salary and dividend planning reviewed annually so the structure actually works in your favour.

  • Bookkeeping and reconciliation handled monthly — no year-end backlog
  • Tax liability visible well before HMRC asks for payment
  • Dividend and salary structure reviewed to make the most of what you earn
  • A fixed monthly cost that does not move regardless of how many questions you ask

What you get

What your monthly fee covers

Three things that keep your limited company compliant, your tax position clear and your admin off your plate — for one fixed monthly fee.

01

Limited Company Accounts and Corporation Tax

Annual accounts prepared, corporation tax calculated and CT600 filed with HMRC — all within your fixed fee. Companies House confirmation statement handled as well. You will know your corporation tax liability well before it is due, which means no last-minute scramble to find the funds.

Included as standard
02

Payroll and Dividend Planning

Director payroll run monthly with RTI submissions to HMRC, and your salary and dividend mix reviewed at least annually. Getting that balance right is one of the most straightforward ways to reduce your tax bill — and one of the things most often left on the to-do list.

Reviewed every year
03

VAT Returns and Self Assessment

Quarterly VAT returns prepared, checked and filed under Making Tax Digital. Your personal self assessment handled at year end, covering director dividends, salary and any other income sources. Filed accurately and on time — no penalties, no rushed submissions.

No extras, no surprises

Why Swift

Why Barnstaple contractors choose Swift

There is no shortage of accountants in Devon. Here is what is different about working with one who already understands how limited company contracting works.

📋

No explaining how contracting works

Director payroll, dividend strategy, IR35 awareness, expenses through the company — you will not spend the first fifteen minutes of every call bringing your accountant up to speed. We work with contractors and limited company directors regularly. The setup is familiar before you describe it.

💬

Replies the same day

Questions get answered the day you ask them. Not logged, not queued, not passed to a junior — answered. If you want to know whether a specific expense is deductible, or how a new contract affects your tax position, you will know before the end of the day.

🔒

One price, clearly agreed

Your monthly fee is fixed and does not move. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices, no extra charge every time you ask a question. Your accounting costs are as predictable as any other fixed overhead — which, frankly, is the way it should be.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Four steps from first enquiry to everything being handled. No complicated onboarding, no paperwork that needs a solicitor.

1

Send your enquiry

Fill in the form on this page. Kieran reads every enquiry and responds the same day with a clear next step. No automated holding messages, no waiting to be allocated to someone.

2

A short discovery call

Around twenty minutes to understand your company setup, current software and what needs sorting. By the end of the call you will know exactly what is included and what it costs — no vague quotes to follow up.

3

We handle the setup

Xero is configured, your existing records are reviewed and brought up to date, and everything is connected. You do not need to do anything except confirm you want to proceed and share access to your current records.

4

Ongoing — nothing falls through

Monthly bookkeeping, quarterly VAT, annual accounts and corporation tax — handled as a matter of course. Your tax position is visible throughout the year, your salary and dividend structure is reviewed annually, and HMRC correspondence lands on our desk rather than yours.

Questions

Questions contractors usually ask first

Yes — director payroll, the salary and dividend mix, IR35 status considerations and expenses through the company are all standard territory. You will not need to explain the basics before getting a useful answer. Most contractors we work with have similar questions at the outset, and the answers do not take long once the books are current.
Once your books are current and your corporation tax position is being tracked through the year, most clients have a clear picture three to four months before the payment deadline. Long enough to plan, not just react. It is considerably more useful than finding out when the reminder arrives.
It is the most common situation when people come to us. Catching up takes a little more time at the start and may cost slightly more — we will tell you exactly what is involved upfront before any work begins. Once current, keeping it current is straightforward.
No. Month-to-month, cancel with a month’s notice. We would rather keep clients because the service is worth it than because the contract makes leaving inconvenient.
