Outsourced Bookkeeping

Your bookkeeping, outsourced.

Most business owners handle their own books not because they enjoy it, but because handing it over feels complicated. The records fall behind, the year-end arrives messier than expected, and the tax bill comes as more of a surprise than it should. Fixed monthly fee, ICAEW chartered, same-day replies.

  • Books updated and reconciled every month — no year-end scramble
  • Tax position visible throughout the year, not just when payment is due
  • VAT returns and HMRC correspondence handled — less of it reaching your desk
  • One fixed monthly cost, agreed upfront, that does not move

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Still doing your own books because it seems easier?

Most business owners end up handling their own bookkeeping by default — not because they are good at it, but because outsourcing feels like another thing to organise. The result is records that drift behind, reconciliations that do not quite balance, and a year-end that takes longer than anyone expected. It is all solvable — it just takes longer the more you leave it.

  • Hours spent on bookkeeping that could be spent running the business
  • Records falling behind and a scramble every time the tax return is due
  • No clear picture of what the business owes until it is too late to plan around it

What outsourced looks like in practice

Books updated and reconciled monthly, with nothing left to pile up. Your tax position visible throughout the year, not just when HMRC prompts you. The admin that used to sit on your desk handled as a matter of course.

  • Books clean and current every month — no year-end archaeology
  • Tax position visible well before payment becomes urgent
  • VAT and HMRC correspondence handled — less of it reaches you
  • A fixed monthly cost that covers the lot — agreed upfront, no movement

What clients say about outsourcing to Swift

We work with sole traders and small limited companies across the UK. Here are two clients who came to us with their books in much the same state yours probably are now.

★★★★★

Kieran and Swift have been an invaluable asset to me and my business. Kieran provided excellent 1:1 training for Quickbooks, which allowed me to gain confidence about my bookkeeping. More recently he has submitted my self-assessment tax return.

Kieran at Swift is super! He helped and bailed me out of the last minute panic of tax and Companies House returns. He’s on the ball, quick at responding, patient with me and got the job done stress free, plus his rates are very competitive.

What you get

What your monthly fee covers

Three things that keep your books clean, your tax position clear and your admin manageable — for one fixed monthly cost with nothing extra buried in the small print.

01

Monthly Bookkeeping and Reconciliation

Every transaction categorised, every bank statement reconciled, every month — without you having to prompt anyone. Your records are current, your numbers are accurate, and there is no backlog waiting to ambush you at year-end.

Included as standard
02

VAT Returns and MTD Compliance

Quarterly VAT returns prepared and filed with HMRC on time, Making Tax Digital compliant as standard. Your VAT liability is visible before the deadline, not a week after it. Less HMRC correspondence landing on your desk.

Quarterly, fixed fee
03

Year-End Accounts and Corporation Tax

Annual accounts, CT600 and Companies House confirmation statement — all handled in one fixed fee. Because your books are current throughout the year, year-end is largely a formality rather than a scramble. Your tax bill is known months before it is due.

No extras, no surprises

Why Swift

Why businesses choose to outsource to Swift

There is no shortage of bookkeepers. Here is what makes the difference when you are handing over something as important as your financial records.

📒

Books handled without chasing you

Outsourced bookkeeping only works if your bookkeeper is more organised than you are. Monthly reconciliations happen as a matter of routine — no prompting, no reminder emails from you, no waiting to find out where things stand. Your records are current because that is what the arrangement is.

💬

Questions answered the day you ask

Questions get answered the day you ask them. Not logged, not queued, not passed to a junior — answered. If you want to know whether something is deductible or how a transaction should be categorised, you will know before the end of the day. That is what same-day replies means in practice.

🔒

One price, clearly agreed upfront

Your monthly fee is fixed and does not move. No hourly billing, no invoices that arrive larger than expected, no charge every time you send an email. Your bookkeeping costs are as predictable as any other fixed overhead — which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Four steps from initial enquiry to everything being handled. No complicated onboarding, no paperwork that requires a lawyer.

1

Send your enquiry

Fill in the form on this page. Kieran reads every enquiry personally and responds the same day with a clear next step. No automated holding messages, no waiting three days for a reply.

2

A short discovery call

Twenty minutes to understand your setup, your current records and what needs sorting. By the end of the call you will know exactly what is included and what it costs — before committing to anything.

3

We handle the setup

Your Xero account is configured, your records are brought up to date and everything is connected. If your books need catching up, that is handled too — you will be told the cost upfront, not after the work is done.

4

Ongoing — nothing falls through

Monthly bookkeeping, quarterly VAT, annual accounts and corporation tax — handled as a matter of course. Your tax position is visible throughout the year, not just at the end of it. Surprises are largely avoidable when the books are current.

Questions

Questions people usually ask before outsourcing

Monthly bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and transaction categorisation as standard. Depending on your plan, that also includes quarterly VAT returns, payroll and a quarterly review of your numbers. You will know what is included before you sign anything — it is all itemised in your fixed monthly fee.
Once your books are current, your tax liability becomes visible throughout the year rather than just at year-end. Most clients have a reasonable working figure three to four months before their payment is due — long enough to plan, not just react.
It is the most common situation people come to us with. Catching up takes a little longer at the start and may cost slightly more — we will tell you upfront what that looks like before any work begins. Once current, keeping it current is straightforward.
No. Month-to-month, cancel with a month’s notice. We would rather keep clients because the service is worth it than because leaving is inconvenient.
