Accountant For Small Business

Your small business accounts, sorted.

Most small business owners spend time on their books that they could spend on their business. Tax returns, VAT deadlines, payroll, Companies House filings — it accumulates, and none of it is what you started the business to do. Fixed monthly fee, ICAEW chartered, same-day replies.

  • Clean, current books every month — no year-end scramble
  • Know your tax position well before HMRC sends the reminder
  • VAT, payroll and Companies House filings handled as a matter of course
  • A named chartered accountant who answers questions the day you ask them

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Running a business and doing the accounts too?

Most small business owners end up doing their own books by default — not because they want to, but because handing them over feels complicated, expensive or hard to trust. The tax return comes round faster each year. The VAT threshold creeps closer than expected. Payroll has to be right, every month. It is all manageable — it just takes longer the more you leave it.

  • Hours each month on bookkeeping that should be running the business
  • No clear picture of the tax bill until it actually arrives from HMRC
  • VAT deadlines, payroll submissions and Companies House filings all on your plate

What sorted looks like

Books updated monthly so the numbers are always current. Tax position visible throughout the year, not just when the return is due. Deadlines handled before they become a problem — without you having to remember them.

  • Monthly bookkeeping handled — no year-end scramble through receipts
  • Tax position clear well before the bill arrives, giving you time to plan
  • VAT, payroll and Companies House filings managed as a matter of course
  • One fixed monthly cost, agreed upfront, that does not move

What you get

What your fixed monthly fee covers

Three core areas that keep your books clean, your tax position visible and your statutory obligations handled — for one agreed monthly cost.

01

Bookkeeping and Monthly Reconciliation

Your records are updated and reconciled every month so the numbers are always current. No year-end archaeology, no scramble when the tax return is due. Xero-based, cloud-accessible, and always up to date.

Included as standard
02

VAT Returns and Payroll

Quarterly VAT returns prepared and filed with HMRC — Making Tax Digital compliant as standard. Monthly payroll for directors and employees, including RTI submissions and payslips. Both handled without you having to track the deadlines.

Fixed fee, no surprises
03

Year-End Accounts and Corporation Tax

Annual accounts, CT600 and Companies House confirmation statement — all prepared and filed on time, every year. Your tax liability is visible well before the deadline, so there is time to plan rather than just react.

All included, nothing extra

Why Swift

Why small businesses choose Swift

There is no shortage of accountants. Here is what is different about working with one who already knows how small limited companies and sole trader businesses operate.

💬

Replies the same day

Questions get answered the day you ask them. Not logged, not queued, not passed down the chain — answered. If you want to know whether something is deductible, or what your current tax position looks like, you will know before the end of the day.

🔒

One price, clearly agreed

Your monthly fee is fixed and does not change. No hourly billing, no invoice that arrives larger than expected, no charge every time you ask a question. Your accounting costs are as predictable as your other fixed overheads.

🎓

ICAEW chartered, not just registered

Kieran Stocker is an ICAEW chartered accountant — a higher qualification than simply being registered with HMRC. That matters when your tax position is being planned, not just processed. Xero Gold Partner status means the software side is handled properly too.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Four steps from enquiry to everything being handled. No complicated onboarding, no paperwork that takes weeks.

1

Send your enquiry

Fill in the form on this page. Kieran reads every enquiry and responds the same day with a clear next step. No automated holding messages.

2

A short discovery call

Twenty minutes to understand your current setup, what software you are using and what needs sorting. By the end of the call you will know exactly what is included and what it costs — nothing left vague.

3

We handle the setup

Your Xero account is connected, your records are brought up to date and everything is configured. You do not need to do anything except confirm you want to proceed.

4

Ongoing — nothing falls through

Monthly bookkeeping, quarterly VAT, annual accounts and corporation tax — handled as a matter of course. Your tax position is visible throughout the year. Surprises are largely avoidable when the books are current.

“Kieran and Swift have been an invaluable asset to me and my business. Kieran provided excellent 1:1 training for Quickbooks, which allowed me to gain confidence about my bookkeeping. More recently he has submitted my self-assessment tax return.”

Questions

Questions small business owners usually ask first

Yes — both. Sole traders on self assessment, limited companies needing year-end accounts, corporation tax, payroll and VAT. The structure is different; the approach is the same. You get a named accountant who knows your situation, not a rotating team.
Once your books are current and updated monthly, your tax liability becomes visible throughout the year rather than just at the end of it. Most clients have a clear picture three to four months before the payment deadline — long enough to plan, not just react.
It is why most people come to us. Getting up to date takes a little longer at the start and may cost slightly more — we will tell you upfront before any work begins. Once current, keeping it current is straightforward.
Plans start from £50 plus VAT per month for year-end accounts and corporation tax, rising to £125 plus VAT per month for the Complete plan which includes bookkeeping review, VAT returns and payroll. Pricing is fixed, agreed upfront and does not move. Full details are on the pricing page.
